Rainbow’s Endeavor of Livelihood Training Program for Working-class Women

Women consist of around half the population of Bangladesh, among whom two-third are deprived of their deserved rights. To develop the concept of a society with a prevalence of gender equity and equality, there has to be sufficient amount of opportunities for the women to participate in all sectors of community development related actions, especially in minor and average income generating livelihood activities. The combined effort through an equal stepping of both male and female would certainly ensure the overall progress of the country. These have been the views of public administrator and local Ward Commissioner Mr. Humayun Kabir during his speech at the opening ceremony of the ‘Sewing and Business Management for the Poor and Disadvantaged Women’, a training program arranged by Rainbow Nari O Shishu Kallyan Foundation. Md. Khairul Alam, the Executive Director of Rainbow Nari O Shishu Kallyan Foundation, chaired the program while the chief guests were Ms. Rawshan Ara Rekha, the Executive Director of the NGO GHARONI, and writer, social-worker Mr. Aniruddha Alam. The speakers in the ceremony urged the women in the society to step forward and make their way towards self-reliance. 60 poor and disadvantaged women from Lalbag, Hajaribag and Kamrangirchar areas participated in the training program.
