CareDoula School has been helping people and businesses since 2005. It was created by Deanna Cochran, RN to reduce suffering at the end of life.
Mission: The mission of CareDoula School is to to mentor and train the person inspired to improve the dying experience to have a fully developed practice for serving.
Vision: CareDoula School envisions a world where every person on the planet has access to high quality palliative care to support a high quality of life anytime during an illness, especially during the time of irreversible, declining health. CareDoula also envisions a world where people know what to do during the imminent dying period.
Values: The sharing of information and training to equip people to enhance quality of life through the end of life is what guides every action within CareDoula.
Focus: CareDoula focuses on the time period between “when-cure-driven-treatments-begin-to-stop-working” and bereavement.
CareDoula has created various initiatives over the years that has promoted palliative care, patient empowerment, consumer training, end of life training and consumer advocacy.
Presently, CareDoula School's focus is creating and improving palliative care programs as well as end of life doula programs within communities, organizations, home healths, hospices and hospitals … anywhere people are being served during the time period of advanced illness. Also, Deanna is very involved with mentoring end of life doulas and companions to accompany the dying through the Certified CareDoula Program, (www.certifiedcaredoula.com)
