SNACC (Sustainable Nutrition and Community Connection) is a New York City–based nonprofit dedicated to improving the health, well-being, and long-term opportunities of children and youth (grades K-12) in under-resourced communities. Our mission is to empower youth and their families through food access and education- equipping children with essential life skills, building confidence, and strengthening family relationships.
For too many children, hunger and food insecurity are not isolated problems. They follow students into the classroom, affecting concentration, attendance, academic performance, and ultimately their opportunities for the future. Across New York City, 1 in 4 children is experiencing food insecurity, meaning hundreds of thousands of young people do not always know where their next meal will come from.
SNACC is working to change what those outcomes can look like. Through hands-on food education, we give young people access to nutritious food while building the practical skills, confidence, independence, and healthy habits that carry into school, home, and life. We offer in-school, after-school, and summer programming, working with schools and community partners to deliver high-impact educational opportunities for the students who need it most.
