About

The history of Upper Crust Enterprises, begins with Founder Masashi Kawaguchi. Mr. Kawaguchi built Fishking Processors, Inc. (also known as Mrs. Friday’s) in 1955 in Los Angeles, where the company earned a reputation for its quality-breaded seafood.

Mr. Kawaguchi introduced Panko bread crumbs to the US in the 1960s in an effort to maintain his philosophy of innovation and high quality products. They began importing Japanese Panko from Japan but decided to venture into manufacturing the Panko bread crumbs in their own facility. They built a Panko manufacturing facility in Los Angeles, California, making the company the first Panko manufacturer in the US.
