About |
Firstly, Anxiety United is FREE to join, and everybody is welcome to join, from sufferers to people who know someone who suffers or even people just looking for information on the ins and outs of mental health issues.
So for the last 10 years I've had a real up and down time with my mental health, ranging from severe panic attacks to general constant anxiety & depression, none of which have ever truly gone from my life, but they have somewhat eased during the course of the last 3 years.
I've spent many hundreds of pounds, if not thousands, on treatments and seeing specialists. Unfortunately for me, none of the money spent really helped me at all, apart from maybe the odd book here and there, especially those by Claire Weekes. You can find them on Amazon.
Recently I would say that my main problem has been anxiety regarding my own health, which resulted in me visiting my doctor only last week, just after Christmas time. My doctor referred me to a new programme that is available here in the UK, I'm not entirely sure if its available UK wide or just in my area.
So the reason that I've set up this website, is to track the effects of this new available option. I remember about 2 years ago, visiting my doctor and asking for some kind of help, and I was greeted with the response that "unfortunately there's nothing you haven't already tried". Therefore I was basically left out to dry.
I am aware that the government are really trying to raise awareness of mental health and the problems it brings, so I'm hoping that this new service is something to be recommended.
I will posting videos and blog posts about this whole experience from start to finish, and documenting my progress (if any) throughout. Starting with the initial telephone call I have to make tomorrow to make the first step in receiving this treatment option.
That really brings me to why Anxiety United has been set up...
Well initially I was going to set up a simple blog site for just myself to use and post on for others to read, but then it occured to me that it may be a useful platform for people to use and maybe add a blog account of there own to share their experiences and issues.
That's about all really, please feel free to signup and create your own blog post, including videos and your stories.
