About

Get your own high-tech crystal ball and see the future of your greenhouse operations with artificial intelligence. You can now automate harvest yield estimates and disease scouting and gain insights into growing conditions that cause skin cracking and blemishes in vegetables. Using your greenhouse data, we will develop custom-made AI automation technology that will only work at your farm--all within 6 weeks (depending on data availability). There's no need to purchase costly equipment or sensors, or make significant changes to your business operations; we provide turn-key technology solutions that never disrupt workflows in your tomato or pepper greenhouse.
Our AI services provide you with automated harvest yield forecasts twice more accurate than the time-intensive methods you use today. You benefit from abilities to better plan marketing, labor and operations by knowing the accurate amount of vegetables you will produce weeks in advance. Automating this task saves over 1.5 days of work a week for each employee that used to occupy their time making weekly harvest estimates. With automated crop disease scouting, you can identify greenhouse zones experiencing environmental stress (e.g., dryness, high temperatures) that make your crops at risk for whitefly or clavibacter pests. Now you can intervene before an epidemic occurs and solve the problem using fewer pesticides and sacrificing fewer plants. Forget seeking advice from costly consultants: our newest service (in beta) uses AI to assess your growing conditions in order to highlight key factors that cause skin cracking and blemishes in tomatoes. Prevent harvest loss and optimize your growing conditions faster using our world-first agriculture technology.
Founded in 2016, Motorleaf's head office resides in Montreal, Canada, a world-leading innovation centre for artificial intelligence. We serve customers around the globe and have clients in Japan, Canada, USA and Europe.
Investors provided millions in funding to help us develop our technology, which includes support from Radicle Growth, Desjardins Bank and Fluxunit of Osram.
Using cutting-edge artificial intelligence and data from your greenhouse, we develop custom-made technology to automate complex analyses and tasks for the commercial hydroponic production of tomatoes and peppers.
Standard with our services are continued assessments by our team of data scientists to ensure top performance of the AI software (i.e., machine-learning algorithms). Our AI technology actually learns and gets more accurate over time when trained with additional data following each harvest cycle.
Our primary service is highly accurate and automated harvest yield forecasts. We can typically reduce error in predicting harvest yields by 50% from the start; once trained with a year of greenhouse data, our customers can achieve a >70% reduction in error compared to current, manual harvest yield predictions. The service begins with weekly predictions and then increases to two-week and further predictions once sufficient greenhouse data becomes available (typically within a year).
Our next services are at a late-stage of beta testing. Client observations to date demonstrate we can automate scouting for common crop diseases and pests, such asclavibacter and whitefly. Using data from internal growing conditions, our AI technology will identify zones in a greenhouse under environmental stress and thus are at risk for outbreaks of disease. This enables growers to act early on before a pest infestation occurs using fewer pest control agents. For our third services, client observations to date show that AI analyses of growing conditions can find patterns in growth factors and conditions associated with skin cracking and blemishes in tomatoes. These insights guide growers in optimizing their growing protocols so they can reduce blemishes, which can increase their harvest yields by over 6% (growers discard roughly 5-15% of a tomato harvest from the fresh produce market due to skin cracks and blemishes).
