About

The International Senior Lawyers Project provides volunteer legal services by retired and highly experienced practicing lawyers, working independently and together with colleagues from law firms and corporations, to promote the rule of law, human rights and equitable economic development worldwide.  ISLP helps governments and citizens in developing countries and repressive societies implement legal reforms, assists programs that advance social and economic well-being, and builds the capacity of local nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and professionals to meet the needs of their communities.

In carrying out its mission, ISLP provides (1) experienced onsite volunteers to advise and help build the capacity of local NGOs, government agencies in less developed countries and other institutions; (2) expert legal counsel for significant commercial transactions, legislative reform, corporate organization and governance, and other matters; (3) cross-border research and analysis on human rights and other issues; and (4) training programs for local lawyers in developing countries.
