About

Singer-songwriter Adjenai was born and raised in Edison, New Jersey. After attending freshman year at a performing arts high school for stage acting, her family decided to sell their belongings and travel.

Though she played classical piano as child, Adjenai found her passion for music while living abroad with a backpack full of clothes and her guitar.

She shaped her “left-of-center” pop sound by her early influences from R&B artists like Alicia Keys and Stevie Wonder, as well as world music influences, and fusing them with her new love of electric guitars, Wurlitzer’s and grooving bass lines. Adjenai’s music combines her eclectic music tastes with an accessible pop sound.

Adjenai was a winner for YoungArts, a scholarship competition for teenage artists, in 2014 for voice and in 2015 for songwriting. She currently studies at Los Angeles College of Music for music composition with an emphasis in songwriting.
